for the equation x over 3 equals 15 the student found the value of x to be 5 explain the error what is the correct answer

if you divide 5 over 3 you get the decimal 1.6, not 15.
the correct answer would be 45. 
how do i get that? read below.

to solve:
[tex] \frac{x}{3} = 15[/tex]
1.multiply each side by 3, to get the 3 on the left side to cancel out. so you get x = 15 times 3.
2. 15 * 3 = 45
