[tex]\cfrac{x}{5 {+} 1}=-6[/tex]

First, simplify the denominator
[tex]\cfrac{x}{6}=-6[/tex]

Second, to find the value of x, we should move 6 to the right side. On the left side, 6 acts as the divisor. After moving to the right side, it becomes the dividend (multiplication)
[tex]\cfrac{x}{6}=-6[/tex]
[tex]x=-6 \times 6[/tex]
[tex]x=-36[/tex]

The value of x is -36
