20 miles

Wagons traveled between 10 and 20 miles per day, depending on weather, region, and other factors. Some of the wagons trains did not operate on Sundays while others did. People decided to make the journey to the West for various reasons. Many people also left to find new opportunities after an industrial depression in late 1830.
